This website is dedicated to the artists and their works who have joined in at one time or another. The journey started in 1997 with The Capolan Exchange, and has continued both as Capolan and Traveler's H'Art.

Capolan is the fictional (though some believe it NOT to be 'fictional') Vagabond Country created by Nick Bantock. Those unfamiliar with Mr. Bantock's work would want to find such books as his Griffin & Sabine trilogy, Windflower and the Capolan gift set.

We are a monthly exchange of arts of all imaginings. Our inception began with the common denominator of 'resonance' to the artings and writings of Nick Bantock, in August 1997. Using themes as jumping off points and not 'set in stone' we've created wonders over the years that begged for viewing in the Virtual Gallery. The exchange is open to likeminded artists seeking to expand their talents and find kinship with others. As for the 'intangibles' of quality, style, etc, let me say - this is a collection of talented artisans who seek to be 'excellent' for its own sake as well as the sake of 'exchanging' quality work with others. This is NOT an exchange-based on the mail art idea of "no judgment, no guilt" and minimalism. Though we stated with the idea of creating works with a "feel" like Bantock's yet, infused with our own styles, humor, etc. - we've evolved to a more personalized collaborating. The artwork is not confined to flat, straight, rubber stamped pieces. We get in an array of collages, hand-bound books, artistamps, structural pieces, jewelry, dolls and fetishes - the whole gamut (but it doesn't EXCLUDE stamping…).

I hope you enjoy viewing the treasures herein.

Thanks for joining us in our travels,

Red
