The
Deck Projects are 'side excursions' that began because of the
inspiration of Gayle Burkins who had collaged a personal deck.
On her suggestion, the Capolan group decided to do a playing card
deck to be distributed only among the players. The decks have
turned out to be wildly popular, being mini collections of fabulous
art-portable and inspiring anything, anywhere (and predating the
ATC or Artist Trading Card which is similar in theory but smaller
in size.) We now do about six decks per year, often hostessed
by me, sometimes delegated to another sojourner with a vision
for a particular deck theme. At this time, there are over 50 completed
deck projects covering many themes. Most are not functional as
in a playing card deck but on occasion we will do a suited deck.
