...and speaking of being on the move..... PRESENTING:
The Gypsy Wagon Project
I am in the process of formulating the details for an ambitious project for Spring of 2008, "The Gypsy Wagon."
I'm imagining a wagon structure, representing YOUR home/caravan. We each would design our wagon the way we WISH it to be, were we traveling a la gypsy/Capolan style. What objets d' art would we accumulate to ourselves? how would we define rooms within the wagon, colors?
The Capolan Wagon Project ONE-Invitation:
We will be creating a structure, whose MAIN purpose
will be for showing YOUR vision of a Capolan Wagon.
Also, you may want to make this structure able to
contain the works for Wagon Project Two (more on that
in the next invitation.) The medium is WIDE
OPEN-meaning if you are a fabric artist, your work can
have walls of fabric. If you are a collage artist, you
may use your favored materials to create your
structure. For Project One, there are going to be few
limitations in regard to materials. My only
expectation is that I will ask that you 'go the
distance' in terms of your own artistic efforts. Raise
the bar on yourself. I will be seeking to have this
project published, so, bearing that in mind-you will
want to do work that reflects YOUR artistic
sensibilities and talents. This project will NOT be
for trade, but I WILL want your piece mailed to me
after the due date so that I can take uniformly smart
pictures for upload to the website and for "tickling"
the eyes of any publisher. Size is limited ONLY in
that, you will need to be able to mail to me and me
back to you without going to large expense.
I am looking at a July 1st deadline for completion of
this project. Be watching for Project Two for another
aspect to this endeavor.
There has been MUCH excitement about this project and
I feel excited as well. Travel on with us, in fashion
with your OWN wagon.

The Capolan Wagon Project Two-Invitation:
This project concerns the interior of your Capolan
wagon. It will be for exchange with others and we will
have a choice of several template shapes from which to
work. I am imagining that the templates will be either
5x7ish OR 8x11ish. That part is still being
determined.
For this leg of the project, you will be asked to
envision the interior of YOUR favored wagon. You may
wish to have your wagon reflect your personal dwelling
place as the Caravan travels its miles. You will want
to show us the room and things you'd surround yourself
with.
OR, you may choose to make your wagon one of the
communal wagons ie: the "Healer's" wagon, or 'Fortune
Teller.' IF you choose to make a communal work, I will
ask for you to send me privately your choice-in hopes
of avoiding 15 Fortune Telling wagons. :)
This piece can be 2D, with collage, paints, etc and
you may add doodads. Basically, your favored medium.
I may seek publication for this as well as Project One
structures but that will depend on the quality
presented.
I'm looking at a due date of July 1st. I hope you'll
want to join us in our Caravan of Creativity.
