Annie started early in her pursuit of the artistic as
a theater arts major in college where she performed
improvisational theater in Chicago (where she was born
and raised.) She attended the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago for a year and then left Chicago
for Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1987.
She designed and made jewelry and had a successful run
with it, selling to small boutiques and stores
throughout the western U.S. for 6 years.
Production work took its toll, and she began to look
for new projects. She is passionate about color and
started painting furniture and small home accessories
(hello, IKEA). She has also been juried into the
Southwest Arts and crafts Festival in 1997 with these
painted pieces.
In 1999 she began teaching classes at the local stamp
store, China
> Phoenix 2. Anne has taught various mixed media
projects in collage, rubber stamping, mask making,
paper dolls, books and shrines. She still teaches 4-6
classes a year.
Anne has received a commission for 20 of her fabric
dolls for each of the last three years from the New
Mexico Commission on the Status of Women for
presentation as commendations for their Governor's
Award.
Adding to her portfolio is her represention by The
Karen Melfi Collection in Santa Fe and she is
currently showing at the Corrales Bosque Gallery in Corrales, New Mexico.
Anne has also been published in Somerset Studio, The
Studio, Legacy and had a project in Sharilynn
Miller's The Stamp Artists Project Book (Rockport
Publishers, 2001).
The Capolan Exchange is honored to have Anne join in
our sojourns with her talent and heart.
